It feels a lot like trying to balance on 2 legs on a chair….eventually it leads to disaster!
Life and health are a balancing act and having all 4 legs firmly implanted on the ground is a safe bet that things will feel more aligned.
What are the 4 legs?
1. Nutrition and lifestyle.
You already know that…nutrition is the cornerstone on which health rests. “You are what you eat” has never been more true, especially in a society that has pushed unnatural, unhealthy, packaged and nutrient-void foodstuffs for decades. It is quite simple really and not as daunting as you may think. Eat simple, fresh and colorful foods. Avoid nutrition labels as much as possible: fresh vegetables and fruits do not carry one! Eat healthy fish and pastured or grass-fed meats.
It does not need to look like the Olympics…start with a daily walk and go from there. Yoga is fantastic and well suited to all ages and all fitness levels. Take the stairs, make movement a part of your day, every day!
3. Mind Health.
You not only are what you eat, you also are what you think! If you catch yourself being in a repetitive mode, stuck on negative thinking, try and shift to a more positive outlook. Meditation is one key to unlock that potential. Write yourself an affirmation and say it out loud 30 times a day…it will sound phony at first, then your brain realigns and will accept it as fact. In 1870, Dr Emile Coue taught his patients to repeat ” Every day, in every way, I am better and better”. They healed faster… What else could we accomplish if we put our mind to it?
4. Healthy Relationships.
You are the sum of the 5 people you associate with the most. Do you have a role model? Spend time with people who inspire you! Be choosy… you are worth it! Like a garden in the summer, weed to let the healthy plants grow.
If you feel like you are juggling or spinning too many plates in the air at the same time, reassess where the priority is, and work from there.
Wishing you balance, health and happiness.
